Orleans CVS Proposal Withdrawn

Developers have withdrawn plans to build this CVS at Skaket Corners.

ORLEANS — The owners of the Skaket Corners Shopping Plaza have withdrawn their proposal to build a nearly 10,000-square-foot new building for CVS at the corner of Route 6A and West Road.

Following a lengthy meeting July 13 with the Orleans Architectural Review Committee, whose members commented extensively and unanimously on why the building did not fit with the community character the town wants to promote, the owners proposed a withdrawal without prejudice, which means a revised project can be submitted at a later date.

At a well-attended May 11 hearing, board members criticized the original plan's design, location on the site, height, overall mass, and lack of variety of materials. In response, the applicants submitted revised plans that aimed to answer some of those concerns.  The proposed building's height, which once included a 33-foot high front gable entrance, was scaled back to 28 feet to conform with the town's regulations.

The applicants have not yet decided whether to submit a new application.
