Franklin Montross III
Franklin Montross III died at his home in North Chatham on June 10, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Tarrytown, New York in 1928. He attended St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire and Duke University. He served in the U.S. Air Force before beginning his banking career at Northern Westchester National Bank. He later worked at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in New York City. He was a member of the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club and The Nantucket Yacht Club. He was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Chatham where his service was held on June 13.
Franklin was most happy at home and with his family. He had a great love for St. Paul’s School and an avid interest in automobiles and the history of automobiles. He leaves his wife Helen Louise Montross, two children Franklin Montross IV and Lee Wheeler Shanker and six grandchildren; Whit, Scott, and Nina Montross and Perrin, Oliver, and Emma Wheeler.
